This 10 day itinerary combines 3 days of safari with 2 days of forest hiking and 3 nights on a pristine island in the clear fresh waters of Lake Malawi. All the accommodations are in family friendly rooms at very comfortable lodges, with excellent meals and activities included. Transfers are with your own private driver and vehicle, no long waits at dusty airstrips! We've designed the itinerary to avoid long drives in between the destinations, with plenty to do on arrival for all ages. Resting on the banks of the Lilongwe River, the sprawling, bustling city of Lilongwe serves as the capital of Malawi. It is the largest city in Malawi and is the economic and transport hub of the country. It features thriving markets, lush green spaces, and a rich cultural heritage.
Kumbali Country Lodge boasts everything you could expect from a nature reserve lodge and much more besides. It is one of the most tranquil alternatives to a Malawi hotel that you will find anywhere. Plump pillows and refined decor await you. Should you require anything our Room Service will deliver it straight up, allowing you time for rest and relaxation. Itinerary Details

Liwonde National Park is situated at the southern tip of Lake Malombe in southern Malawi. Although Liwonde is one of Malawi’s smaller parks, it is arguably the most popular of all the game parks in the country. Malawi’s main river, the Shire, forms its western boundary and is the reserve’s lifeblood. With plentiful wildlife including hippos, kudu, elephants, crocodiles and elephants and even black rhino, the park had become one of Malawi’s premier wildlife-viewing destinations.
Mvuu Camp has a spectacular vantage point along the Shire River that draws all manner of fauna to its banks. The camp, comprising 14 units as well as a nearby campsite, is a clever mix of spacious stone and canvas chalets and specially designed family tents. An impressive thatched dining and lounge area offers a magnificent river vista that is framed by two large baobab trees. Dinners are sometimes held under the stars in a specially constructed boma.

Situated in southern Malawi, the city of Zomba formerly served as the colonial capital of the country. It is known for its Colonial architecture and its location on the southern slopes of the scenic Zomba Plateau. It serves as an excellent base for visitors to explore the surrounding area. The rugged wilderness of lush forests, glistening lakes, and cascading waterfalls lends itself to a variety of adventurous outdoor activities including, hiking, fishing, horse riding birdwatching, mountain biking and rock climbing. Visitors can explore the city’s botanical gardens and golf course, or venture further afield to the beautiful Zomba Nature Reserve.
Zomba Forest Lodge is a cozy, intimate guest house nestled in 20 acres of beautiful mixed woodland and secret gardens. A perfect retreat where relaxation is guaranteed. There are 3.5km of nature trails around the property and a huge variety of birds, including sunbirds feeding from flowers mere inches from the veranda. Completely off-grid, ZFL is an ideal place to hide away, to sit back and relax, away from the pressures of ‘real life’! Nankoma Island is part of the Marelli Archipelago in southern Lake Malawi, where the waters are particularly rich in brightly colored tropical fish known as cichlids. It is an amazing experience to swim or snorkel with them as they flash by in iridescent shades. There is also rich bird life on the island, including hornbills, kingfishers, paradise flycatchers and owls, as well as cormorants and fish eagles on the lake shores.
Just a two hour journey from Lilongwe, the exclusive Blue Zebra Island Lodge is situated on Nankoma Island, part of the Marelli Archipelago in Lake Malawi National Park (UNESCO World Heritage site). The 3 islands are home to a vast array of fresh water fish, including some of the most rare and colorful in the world. The islands support diverse flora and fauna and are a bird watcher’s paradise.
A unique set-up with 9 en-suite safari-style tented chalets and 1 Superior Cottage overlooking the lake. Secluded executive chalets boast stunning views from private balconies, some with lake access. The chalets are set in an unspoiled environment, immersed in nature.
