It is that time of year again – with the holidays upon us, we are turning our attention to our clients’ travel adventures in 2025 and beyond. We are so looking forward to giving our clients their trip of a lifetime in the year to come – and many have asked us for ideas for gifts for their fellow travelers.   

Our ideas run the gamut from books you can read before, during or after your travels to practical clothing for long plane journeys to artisan crafts directly from the African continent to our favorite gift of all – a safari!  

Here is some inspiration for travel gift giving.

• Our 2023 gift guide still offers great options for online shopping supporting artisan craftsmen and wildlife causes dear to our heart. From incredible jewelry to adopting an elephant, there is something for everything with a passion for Africa! Giving Tuesday may be behind us, however donations are always welcome. 

 Here are some more ideas, ranging from coloring books to a safari itself: 

• Books – depending on your recipient, a book about the African continent, the wildlife they will see or a fictional novel might just fit the bill. • Clothing – for the outdoors person in your life, whether your safari is imminent or you are enjoying local outdoor experiences, here are some super holiday gift ideas. Stores specializing in outdoors are a great start eg.  REI or LL Bean

• Safari hat – the sun is strong in east and southern Africa and we highly recommend a hat with a decent brim. 

• Loose, light pants and shirts  

• Trail shoes and flip flops 

• A buff or scarf is a fabulous accessory 

• Headlamp for reading at night.  

• Activities before and during a trip – our families are big Jigsaw puzzle fans, so a wildlife themed puzzle is a great stocking stuffer, as are coloring books for younger kids. Older kids might enjoy a journal to document all they will see on safari! 

• Packing  – a soft duffel bag (this is Yvette’s favorite) is a requirement on many small bush flights. We also love packing cubes to make the most of the limited space! 

• Top notch camera and other equipment for capturing incredible images while on safari – Nikon and Canon are just two brands we’d recommend for cameras, and which are widely used by the guides, while the debate is still out on smart phones – the debate between iPhones v. Samsung continues. 

• Have you already booked a trip? Chat to your consultant about adding an exclusive experience to enhance or surprise your fellow travelers. Consider a hot air balloon in the Serengeti or Mara OR a private dining experience. Your consultant will be able to suggest ideas based on your confirmed itinerary. 

• Conservation and community projects – ask for ideas about sponsoring a child’s education or supporting a local wildlife project.
