Here’s what’s happening in April in Africa:

Across East and Southern Africa

• The rutting season begins for warthogs, wildebeest and impala, so there is a lot of snorting and clashing of horns to add some drama to your photography.
• Fruit trees are in bloom throughout the continent, making for some very happy baboons, vervet monkeys, birds, elephants and other fruit loving species.
• It’s even breeding season for the crocodiles, as they too make the most of this time of plenty.

East Africa

• In Tanzania, the migrating herds of zebra and wildebeest are beginning to move towards the Western Corridor of the Serengeti, the youngsters are all steady on their legs and enjoying an abundance of fresh grass with the first of the long rains.
• Snorkeling and diving conditions are still perfect in The Seychelles, but the tropical Swahili coast, stretching over 1800 miles along the shores of Tanzania and Kenya is likely too warm and rainy. 

 Southern Africa

• In southern Africa, you can benefit from some excellent “shoulder season” pricing with lovely warm, dry weather during the so called “Green Season”. Here are some tips on Watching your Wallet…
• In Zambia, the lower Zambezi Valley is drying out to receive visitors again, as are the Mana Pools (Diane’s ‘little bit of heaven’ since 1990) across the river in Zimbabwe. 
• Lake Malawi is crystal clear, the bush still green and the temperature is perfect. 

Cape Town & Surroundings 

• The harvest season is coming to an end in and around Cape Town, but the weather is still summery, so expect a busy Cape Town and crowded beaches all along the coast and Garden Route – particularly in the week before and after Easter. (Local School Holidays)
