Vanessa’s Busy 60 Hours in Cape Town …

It was incredibly exciting to be back in Cape Town after such a long time! Although it started out a bit windy, that certainly didn’t stop me from getting out and exploring.

The highlights were exploring so many wonderful areas – we started with a visit to Kalk Bay, where we kicked off the day with a fun bead-making session. From there, we headed to the Company’s Garden, took a leisurely walk and enjoyed a lovely tea tasting experience.

Next up was the vibrant Bo-Kaap area, where we strolled through the colorful streets and sampled some delicious samoosas — a real treat! We wrapped up the day with sundowners near Signal Hill, taking in the beautiful views as the sun set.

The following day brought a truly unique experience — a ride in a Cape Town sidecar. We took our time along the scenic route, stopping at breathtaking spots before arriving at Boulders Beach to see the famous penguin colony. It was such a refreshing alternative to the usual tours, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit different!

Cape Town offers a wide range of accommodation options — from the vibrant and bustling V&A Waterfront to charming boutique guesthouses tucked away in quiet city suburbs.

  • Queen Victoria Hotel and Dock House Boutique Hotel are ideal if you want to be close to the working harbor, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and the lively waterfront atmosphere.
  • For something truly unique, the Silo Hotel is a dream for art lovers and design enthusiasts. Its stunning architecture, curated art collection, and rooftop views make it a memorable place to unwind at the end of the day.
  • If you prefer a peaceful setting within the city, Welgelegen Boutique Guest House and Four Rosmead offer a warm, welcoming atmosphere in suburbs — just a short Uber ride from the Waterfront and close to shopping, dining, and local attractions.
  • Camissa House, perched on the slopes of Table Mountain, delivers breathtaking views over the city and mountain — a tranquil retreat with a luxurious edge.
  • Finally, in the Sea Point area, the iconic Winchester Hotel offers a lively, social vibe. Relax on the veranda and take in the ocean views, or watch the paragliders drift by as you enjoy a cocktail.

Wining and Dining …

Cape Town is a true foodie destination, and I had the pleasure of enjoying some incredible meals during my stay:

  • Lawns at the Roundhouse – If you’re spending time in the Camps Bay area, this spot is a must. Set in a relaxed garden setting, it’s perfect for a laid-back meal with beautiful views and delicious, well-crafted dishes.
  • Kloof Street House – Located in the vibrant city suburbs, close to shopping and nightlife, this restaurant combines an eclectic interior with fantastic food and a great vibe. I’d highly recommend a later dinner reservation to fully soak in the magical, candlelit atmosphere.
  • Codfather – A bit of a hidden gem, this one offers a different kind of dining experience. With a focus on fresh seafood, you choose your own cuts and portions at the counter. The food was outstanding — simple, fresh, and full of flavor.
