Overview

This 10 day private safari is a long time client favorite, perfect for families or a group of friends. Accommodations are comfortable and in the best safari locations across northern Tanzania. The safari starts with 2 nights in Tarangire, a day in Lake Manyara and 2 nights at the Ngorongoro Crater before moving on to spend a final fantastic 4 nights in the Serengeti. You will be accompanied by a highly trained guide/naturalist/driver for the duration of your safari so you have the full benefit of an on-going relationship and education with your guide. Your private vehicle is a comfortable 4x4 vehicle, with pop-up roof with plenty of room for 6 adults, seated in 3 rows of 2 (so everyone has a window seat). We have designed the itinerary to follow the migration, so will substitute the Serengeti camps to maximize your opportunity to witness this great event. There are no set departure dates and the itinerary is flexible if you wish to add nights on safari, a hot-air balloon ride, or spend a few extra days at the beach to rest and relax before returning home. Resting at the foot of Mount Meru, the sprawling city of Arusha is known as the safari capital of northern Tanzania. It serves as an excellent base from which to explore the remarkably scenic surrounding area which includes majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as the Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro National Parks. Kahawa House is a homey lodge located in Arusha, just 6km southwest of the center of town, providing convenient access to Arusha Domestic Airport and is an ideal rest stop for visitors before they embark on their safari. There is a swimming pool as well as a deck where guests can enjoy lunch and dinner.

Located just a few hours drive from the town of Arusha, Tarangire is a popular stop for safaris traveling through the northern circuit on their way to Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. The park extends into two game controlled areas and the wildlife are allowed to move freely throughout. An intimate camp run by the local Masai community, Maramboi Tented Camp takes full advantage of its location between Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara. This strikingly beautiful location provides guests with marquee vistas in virtually every direction: Manyara National Park, the Rift Valley, the Ngorongoro Highlands. Maramboi Tented Camp offers permanent camp facilities and endless vistas of rolling golden grasslands and palm lined desert between Tarangire and Manyara Lake. A visit to the area is essential for anyone interested in evolution and the origins of Mankind and an explanation of the Rift Valley and Africa’s big picture. It is a complete semi desert experience focusing on safari walks and game drives. There are 40 spacious tents built on ample wooden decks, among them there are 12 family rooms with 2 rooms interconnected, ideal for families with children. Located in Northern Tanzania, the Ngorongoro Crater is best known for its natural beauty and abundance of diverse wildlife; which makes it one of Africa’s most popular safari destinations. Surrounded by Tanzania’s highlands, this UNESCO-listed crater is said to be the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Reminiscent of old colonial farm life, Ngorongoro Farm House is set amidst a 500-acre coffee plantation and gives guests the unique feel of rural African living. You can walk amid the coffee plants, picturesque lawns and gardens bursting with colorful blooms en route to one of the 52 cottages, 49 standard rooms and 3 suites. All rooms have a wide-open feel with vaulted ceilings, a tastefully decorated bedroom, a lounging area, as well as a bathroom and a private deck ideal for relaxing while looking out over the sweeping Rift Valley. The thatched main building is perfect for unwinding as well: sit back and look out over the plantation and flower gardens from the elevated deck, enjoy a cool cocktail in the bar, or warm yourself by the fireplace, a welcome amenity in the fresh, brisk air of the highlands.

Lake Masek Tented Camp

Itinerary Details

Lake Masek Tented Camp is located by the shores of Lake Masek, right between the vast plains of the Serengeti National Park and the northwest side of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and only a two hour tour scenic drive from Olduvai Gorge’s Museum. Accommodation is in 30 Luxury Tents with either king-size or twin beds. There is cozy main house with a magnificent lounge with a well furbished library and relaxing restaurant. The lodge is eco-friendly as all power is supplied by solar electricity and water is harvested during the rainy season and collected for use. This unique location is home to the Wildebeest Migration from December to April each year. There are resident big 5 game year all round.
